Under the leadership of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, Detroit Drives Degrees has established an ambitious regional goal of 60 percent college attainment by 2025. As an early step in this effort, the Lab will help examine the current state of college matriculation and completion in the Metro Detroit area to better understand current rates of college attainment. We will explore how many students matriculate in college, where they enroll, credit accumulation and completion rates. We will also identify which high schools, colleges and universities see the highest rates of success with students in Southeast Michigan.
The study will concentrate on Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties, as well as the City of Detroit. These descriptive statistics regarding college access and attainment will be used to establish a project baseline, and inform recommendations toward overall and institutional goals for increasing college attendance and graduation.
