While we do not currently have any open RA positions, we encourage you to indicate your interest in working with YPL by filling out our online form. Those who fill out interest forms will be the first to know about any new positions that become available!
Hiring typically takes place at the beginning of semesters, so we encourage you to submit resumes by August 1st for the fall semester, December 1st for the winter semester, and April 1st for the spring/summer semesters.
Please note that hiring for RA positions is restricted to current University of Michigan students.
What do Youth Policy Lab Research Assistants do?
Working between 5 and 10 hours each week, a research assistant at YPL is assigned a specific project and a YPL Project Manager. RAs participate in team meetings and meet regularly with the project managers to gain important background/context for the work. This provides the RAs with the support they need to successfully complete their tasks and make meaningful contributions to the projects to which they are assigned. Common project tasks for RAs include:
- Conduct literature reviews and/or landscape analyses, collect and systematize information gathered from websites
- Clean and analyze large datasets, code open-ended survey responses
- Program and/or test surveys in Qualtrics
- Draft short reports and data visualizations
