For nearly a decade, the University of Michigan Youth Policy Lab has been deeply committed to exploring and analyzing the critical issues facing youth and families. We are thankful to our partners that turn to us for our evaluation and research expertise to help them understand what is effective and impactful, and then use this knowledge to make informed policy and program decisions. We are committed to our work because we know that it enables community and government agencies to make sound decisions that will improve the lives of young people now and in the future.
As we present our annual report, we reflect on a year of pivotal research at the Youth Policy Lab, particularly in the areas of education governance, career and technical education, maternal and infant health, adolescent mental health, and early interventions for infants and toddlers. With nearly 20 projects in our portfolio, we have engaged in work affecting youth from infancy through early adulthood. We are also proud of our efforts to deliver high-quality training and mentorship for future and early career policy professionals through ASPIRE and the Policy Fellowship program.
Of significance, this past year has been characterized by a continually shifting political and funding landscape. Despite these challenges, we've been able to sustain our work thanks to the incredible breadth of our partnerships and the diverse funding we receive from both dedicated foundations and various government entities. We are extremely thankful for this robust support! However, it's crucial to acknowledge the impact of potentially significant federal government funding cuts. While we are diligently planning and operating as thoughtfully as possible, such reductions would inevitably make it difficult for us to continue our important work. This is a reality we believe is important for all our stakeholders to understand.
Looking ahead, we are eager to continue the great work of the Youth Policy Lab, and we will do so with our partners at the heart of our efforts. At YPL, we are steadfast in our commitment to Data. Policy. Progress.—leveraging rigorous research to inform policy decisions that drive meaningful change for youth and families.
