Sam Owusu
Sam Owusu (He/Him) is a Data & Policy Fellow at the Youth Policy Lab. He is embedded in the Office of Early Childhood located within the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential (MiLEAP). Originally from Chicago, IL, Sam holds a bachelor's degree from Davidson College in North Carolina and a Master's of Public Policy from the University of Michigan. Sam is passionate about using data and mixed methods research to optimize educational investments which increase access and ensure equitable opportunities, particularly at the earliest years.
Prior to joining YPL, Sam spent four years at the Education Policy Initiative supporting early childhood research exploring the implementation and impacts of Michigan's public 2-year Transitional Kindergarten program. Sam has also engaged in qualitative research seeking to understand implementation of the Tuition Incentive Program; a first dollar scholarship program available to low-income students in Michigan.
Sam enjoys photography, board games, collecting rocks and playing volleyball.
