TRAILS - Variation in Implementation in Michigan
Summary
Youth Policy Lab has been engaged by TRAILS (Transforming Research into Action to Improve the Lives of Students), an evidence-based, school-delivered student health and wellness program, to explore and evaluate variation in implementation of its Tier 1 (Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum) and Tier 2 (Early Intervention) programming across participating schools in Michigan. Insights from this analysis will be used to inform and improve program delivery.
YPL will utilize survey, administrative, and publicly available data to explore variation in implementation outcomes in Michigan schools, with the overarching goal to understand patterns, barriers, and determinants of implementation.
In particular, this study will use latent profile analysis (LPA) to identify implementation profiles for TRAILS Tier 1 and Tier 2 programming in Michigan schools in the school years 2023-24 and 2024-25. We will analyze how these profiles relate to student and staff outcomes, and explore barriers associated with variation in implementation profiles.
Conflict of Interest Statement: The University of Michigan has a financial interest in the TRAILS program.
